Congratulations Amy and Aaron

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

We are very pleased to announce that two of our vets, Amy Radford and Aaron Higgins, have passed their BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. For the last three years they have been studying to further their knowledge in various aspects of veterinary medicine, including organ dysfunctions (for example liver, kidney and heart disease) and hormonal diseases such as an under or overactive thyroid, and diabetes.

Amy is over the moon to have completed this certificate and says "I’m very happy with my distinction as it was a satisfying end to the 3 years. It’s been challenging at times fitting it around work, but has been interesting furthering my knowledge in these areas.

I'm particularly interested in the hormonal disturbances, such as diabetes, and feline medicine such as over active thyroid or renal disease."

Aaron is also very proud of his achievements in completing the 3 year course with a distinction. He particularly enjoyed attending the associated course dates and liaising with the specialists involved in teaching the course. His interests include oncology and cardiology.

This means we now have a large variety of vets with specific interests. Shaun Ferneley and Will Hodge are both RCVS Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Surgery with particular interest in orthopaedic conditions. Mark Ames is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology, based at our Thatcham surgery. We also have Vicky James who has completed an RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.

This enables us to treat your pet on a first opinion basis with greater knowledge and treatment options than most first opinion practices.
