Posting medications

If you would like your medications posted to you, just ask us. Medications are posted as signed for, charged at £6.00 per package. Controlled medicines must be sent via special delivery, charged at £8.50. We will text you to let you know the medication is ready for posting and ask you to pay over the phone before we post it.

There are some royal mail regulations we must abide by, for example, we can not post any medical liquids over 50ml.


Friday 27th March 2020

Our opening hours for our Tadley branch have temporarily changed. During the week Tadley is open 9am - 5pm. Tadley will not be open on Saturday mornings until further notice.


Thursday 26th March 2020

Unfortunately, our Thatcham branch will be TEMPORARILY closed from Monday 30th March. Our Newbury hospital and Tadley branch remain open for urgent appointments and collecting medication. The staff at Thatcham will be pleased to see you all as soon as we are able to open again.

If you are a Thatcham client and have medication to collect, please do this by closing time on Friday 27th March. After this date, it will be available to collect from our Newbury surgery, or we can arrange for it to be posted.

Clients that are immediately affected by the closing will be contacted directly. Give us a call if you have any queries.


Tuesday 24th March 2020

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has provided us with further guidance since the government's instructions to stay at home. We can now advise you of further information about the services that we are still providing.

All 3 of our branches; Newbury, Thatcham and Tadley will remain open to be able to see patients and for you to collect medications.

We will be minimising face-to-face contact and therefore if your pet is currently unwell and requires examinations and treatment there may be some differences compared to a usual visit. For example, you may be asked to wait outside the building whilst we examine your pet.

For clients that are self-isolating. or we are not certain that a visit to us is definitely required we are offering remote consultations via video link, priced at £30. This may help us to either advise on how best to care for your pet at home, or help us to determine if we need to see your pet.

We are currently not booking any routine procedures or appointments, although we will still see 2nd puppy vaccinations that have had their 1st vaccine with us or whilst with their breeder.

Examples of routine procedures and appointments are:

  • Vaccinations

  • Pre-mate testing

  • Neutering (other than for treatment of a problem)

  • Flea and worm checks

  • Issuing pet passports

  • Nail and claw clips (except when causing pain)

  • Anal gland expressing (except when there is persistent discomfort causing an active problem)

If your pet requires more medication but they are due their 6 monthly check, a veterinary surgeon will phone you to discuss your pet's condition.

We are still available for your pets 24 hours a day for an emergency. If you are concerned about your pet, just call us and we will advise you on what to do next.

We also wanted to thank our clients for all the support and well wishes during this time. We are passionate about the care we provide for your pets and us staying healthy means we can continue to help your pets when they are in need.

This is a constantly changing situation and we will continue to update you as soon as more changes are made.

We appreciate that the government announcement on Monday 23rd of March of staying at home with essential travel only, may cause concern to our clients. However, we will still provide appointments for unwell and injured animals at our Newbury, Thatcham and Tadley branches. Unfortunately at present we can not carry out routine procedures such as vaccinations, nail clips or neutering. Please phone any of our sites if you have any queries. Our 24 hour emergency service will still be running as usual from our Newbury Hospital. Our 3 sites will continue to remain open for prescription medication orders and collection
