You will also be working alongside student veterinary nurses for some of the night and therefore supervising them, followed by sole working to complete the shift.
The shift pattern is 7 nights working 7.30pm-7.30am, followed by 14 nights off.
Up to £35,000 depending on experience, plus benefits
Modern practices with excellent facilities
Our main Hospital has RCVS Tier 3 hospital status and is based in Newbury, which is a thriving town in West Berkshire, with many restaurants and only a 45-minute train journey to London Paddington. Situated on the edge of the North Wessex Downs AONB, it also provides beautiful local countryside for long walks with our canine friends.
We have facilities for imaging and surgery at any time of day or night. Our equipment includes Digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound with colour doppler, endoscopy, arthroscopy, Operating microscope, microsurgical equipment, slit lamp and tonovet.
Meet like-minded professionals We have a team of 17 vets, including certificate holders in small animal surgery and ophthalmology, as well as vets with an interest in internal medicine and exotics. This makes us more than a first-opinion practice as we often perform surgeries and treat cases that may otherwise have been referred. Having been established for decades, and with two branch practices in Thatcham and Tadley, we have a huge client base which comes with lots of variety in our caseload. Our nursing team is made up of 16 RVNS and 9 SVNs in various stages of their training. We are supported by a team of 7 nursing assistants.
We encourage our nurses to pursue special interests as much as possible, for example, we currently have nurses studying towards nutrition and small animal medicine certificates.
What we’re looking for in you? You will be an RCVS registered RVN with confidence in all areas of veterinary nursing. Ideally you will have ECC experience due to the nature of this role and thrive when it matters the most. You will have a desire to drive forward clinical standards and client care as well as work well in a team environment.
