Vacancy -Part-time Laboratory Administrator

Our advanced laboratory are looking for an administrator to join their team. The role is to support our lab team in running, reporting and charging laboratory tests. The successful candidate will have a good attention to detail, and have an interest in animal health.


We are looking for the successful candidate to work Monday to Friday 2pm - 5pm


Job description

Working within a team whose goal is to undertake diagnostic tests on samples from animal patients. The team is responsible for running, reporting, and charging for laboratory tests, or sending samples to external laboratories as appropriate.

The individual, who will report to the Head of Laboratory Operations, will man the Reception Desk, providing support in administrative tasks in the laboratory.


Key Responsibilities

  • Running the Laboratory reception area.

  • Inputting test requests and allocation of tests to the Laboratory team.

  • Preparation and postage of externally referred tests.

  • Regular reviewing of sample and test records.

  • Communicating with animal owners and veterinarians about tests by phone, email or in-person.

  • Preparation and postage of supply packs to external clients.

  • Oversee stock and ordering of Laboratory consumables.

  • Overseeing equipment maintenance such as service records for equipment and timely servicing and repairs.

  • Reporting and charging for tests where appropriate.

  • Participate in answering queries from clients about results.

  • Coordinating with the rest of the Laboratory team to ensure the Laboratory is always adequately staffed.

  • Comply with all relevant H&S and training procedures and adhere to good Laboratory practices.
